What gametrough.com collects, why, and how to get rid of it.

What we store

• Account data — your display name, username, email, avatar and anything you put in your profile. Authentication is handled by Clerk; we store a mirror of your profile so pages can render without calling out.
• Your activity — games you like, save, submit or comment on, creators you subscribe to, and threads you post.
• Play counts — an incrementing number per game, plus an optional link to your account so your own history works. No session recording, no mouse tracking.

Cookies

• Essential — a session cookie so you stay signed in. There's no opting out of this one; without it you can't have an account.
• Advertising — only if you allow it in the consent banner. Decline and ads still appear, they're just not personalised.

We don't use analytics cookies for cross-site tracking.

Advertising

Ad units are served by Google AdSense. If you consent to personalisation, Google may set its own cookies and use them per its own policies. Consent Mode v2 signals are set from your banner choice and can be changed by clearing this site's local storage.

Third parties we use

• Clerk — authentication
• Google Cloud — hosting (Cloud Run), file storage (Cloud Storage) and logging. Server request logs include IP addresses and are retained for 30 days.
• Neon — the database
• Google AdSense — advertising
• Stripe — payments, if and when Trough+ launches

Game builds are served from a separate origin under our control, sandboxed so that a game cannot reach your session or make third-party requests.

Your rights

Ask for a copy of your data, a correction, or deletion, and we'll do it. Deleting your account removes your profile, games, comments and forum posts. Email the address on the site.

Children

Not intended for under-13s. We don't knowingly collect their data.

Retention

Account data lives until you delete it. Uploaded builds are deleted when the game is deleted. Play counts are aggregate and stay.
